Our Team
We work with a multidisciplinary team of professionals who are passionate about the mountains and committed to delivering outstanding service.
High Mountain Guides (AGMP – IFMGA Certified)
High Mountain Guides are highly trained and certified professionals qualified to lead climbing, trekking, and mountaineering expeditions in technically demanding terrain. Their training and certification guarantee the technical knowledge, skills, and experience required to guide mountaineers of all levels with maximum safety and efficiency.
AGMP – IFMGA Certification
Our guides are certified by the Peruvian Mountain Guides Association (AGMP) and the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA/UIAGM), the highest global recognition in the mountain guiding profession.
This certification ensures:
- Rigorous training in rock climbing, ice climbing, and high-altitude mountaineering
- Advanced knowledge of rescue techniques and first aid in remote environments
- Strong expertise in navigation, meteorology, and risk management
- Extensive experience on major routes and summits in Peru and worldwide
IFMGA-certified guides not only lead expeditions but also ensure a safe, enriching, and well-organized experience for every adventurer.
Official Trekking Guides – UIMLA Certified
Official Tourism Guides with UIMLA (Union of International Mountain Leader Associations) certification specialize in leading groups on trekking, hiking, and non-technical mountain journeys. Unlike IFMGA guides, who lead technical climbing expeditions, UIMLA guides focus on non-technical activities, ensuring safety, cultural interpretation, and environmental awareness on trekking routes.
UIMLA Certification
UIMLA certification is an international standard that guarantees the guide has the appropriate training to operate in diverse mountain and natural environments, ensuring professional service on long-distance trekking routes.
Skills and Knowledge of a UIMLA Guide
- Expertise in orientation, navigation, and route planning
- Training in first aid and safety in remote areas
- Advanced knowledge of local flora, fauna, geography, and culture
- Group management techniques in mountain terrain and long-distance trails
- Strong commitment to sustainable tourism and environmental conservation
Thanks to their training, UIMLA guides are the best option for travelers who wish to explore the Andes through trekking, enjoying a safe, educational, and enriching experience.
High Mountain Assistants
High Mountain Assistants are a fundamental pillar of any trekking and climbing expedition. Their work is essential to the success and safety of each journey, providing logistical support, technical assistance, and on-route support to both guides and climbers..
Roles and Responsibilities
- Equipment transport and management: Carrying and organizing camping gear, food, and technical equipment
- Camp setup: Installing and organizing tents, kitchens, and rest areas in the mountains
- Route assistance: Supporting guides and climbers during ascents and descents, especially in challenging terrain
- Meal preparation: Some assistants serve as expedition cooks, ensuring proper nutrition in the mountains
- Safety support: Monitoring weather conditions and route risks, assisting with safety and rescue operations when necessary
We also highlight the essential role of muleteers, who are key contributors to trekking expeditions in the Andes. They are responsible for transporting equipment and supplies using mules, donkeys, or llamas, ensuring all necessary materials reach each camp efficiently. Their work is invaluable, as it reduces the physical load on travelers and contributes to a safer and more comfortable expedition.
Experience and Local Knowledge
High Mountain Assistants are often local residents with deep knowledge of the terrain and weather conditions. Many have grown up in the mountains and possess exceptional physical endurance, adapting easily to altitude and the demands of expedition life.
Their commitment and experience ensure a well-organized, safe, and comfortable journey, allowing adventurers to fully enjoy their expedition.
Logistics and Operations
Logistics and operations are a key component of every mountain and climbing expedition, ensuring success, safety, and efficiency. From initial planning to on-the-ground execution, every detail is carefully coordinated to deliver a smooth and well-organized experience.
We work as a team to make every expedition truly unforgettable.
