Vallunaraju is one of the mountain peaks that can be seen from the city of Huaraz; it is located in the Cordillera Blanca, with a height of 5686 masl. It is one of the preferred mountains in the region to acclimatize climbers because of its easy access. From its summit, you have a spectacular panoramic view of the surrounding mountains.

Itinerary:
Day 01: Huaraz - Moraine Camp 4950 masl
Our expedition begins from the city of Huaraz were we set off in private transportation for approximately 1 hour and a half until we reach the beginning of our trekking route. We will hike 3 hours uphill until we reach the Moraine camp 4950m where we will setup camp for the night.
Day 02: Moraine Camp – Summit Vallunaraju 5686 masl - Huaraz
We will depart from moraine camp at 2:00 am. The glacier is 20 minutes from our camp, where we will begin our ascent across the dense glacier until we will reach the summit. From the top of Vallunaraju we will appreciate spectacular views of the surrounding snow-capped mountains. The climb is from 6 to 7 hours and the descent is 3 hours, until the moraine camp. Then the walk to the bus is 3 hours. Return to Huaraz.
Recommendations:
- If you want to do this type of climbing, it is necessary to acclimatize previously for several days and be in good physical/technical conditions.
